A new recording by The Pop Hypothesis will be featured on another online cover compilation by At Sea Compilations, which is set to be released tomorrow.
We have contributed a cover of Tori Amos’ song „Leather“ from her solo debut album “Little Earthquakes” (1992) to the album “Freebird: A Tori Amos Tribute”. It will be available for download on the label’s homepage and on Bandcamp.
Check out the detailed review of our third single Stay for Christmas in an extraordinary Dutch blog dedicated to Christmas singles called Snowflakes Christmas Singles. If you are into Christmas and a lover of 7”-records, this site, which offers extensive documentation of Christmas singles from the past and present, is definitely the site to visit.
The video for “Stay for Christmas” has reached a first milestone as it exceeded 1000 views on YouTube these days. Thanks to everyone who contributed! But this is only a starting point of course as the song is bound to return every Christmas to come. Forever … and ever … and ever …
Also “Life According to a Pop Star” passed the 800 views mark and the two version of “Madelaine” have over 1000 views combined.
The statistics as of today:
“Stay for Christmas” 1032 views
“Life According to a Pop Star” 804 views
“Madelaine” (Version 2) 661 views
“Madelaine” (Version 1) 362 views
I beg you to stay for another day
For the gin, for the fun, for our love
Take your coat if you go, it is going to snow
But inside it is cosy and warm
I beg you to stay just for another day
For the gin, for the fun, for our love
So rest for a while, warm your feet by the fire
If you stay, I’ll keep you safe from harm
I won’t make any promises I know that I can’t keep
No reindeer will be flying by, no Santa in your sleep
No angels playing on a harp, no oxen and no sheep
Yet candles will be burning bright, this Christmas can’t be beat
Who would have thought that of all people The Pop Hypothesis would release a Christmas record? But do not fear for our sanity – of course it is just ironic. In an unironic way though. Or was it unironic in an ironic way? I always get that mixed up.
So, if you think you’ll get sick if you have to listen to Last Christmas one more time but you still can’t do without a proper Christmas earworm to haunt and torment you for weeks and weeks to come – look no further! And don’t forget to check out Either Or, the brand new and not so jolly song on the B-side!
This time we finally managed to produce the music video in time for the single release. It’s up on YouTube, you can watch it below. I’m sure it will perfectly put you in the Christmas spirit and prepare you for all the annoying hardships Christmas season may harness.
The video guest stars our good friends The Legends of Rhythm and Gino which marks the first time in 24 years that all original members of The Legendary Film Corporation have acted together. Let’s see what that reunion might lead to…
Only two more days until the release of our new single! As usual it will be available to download on the likes of Amazon or iTunes and it will be available for streaming on Spotify, Deezer and others. And of course there will be a limited 7″ vinyl edition.
Here´s a first look at the front and back covers for the vinyl:
Some time ago we invited our fans to participate in the video for our latest single “Life According to a Pop Star”. We encouraged them to let out their inner pop stars and dress up and sing and dance to the song. And a lot of people actually did that! And more…
As you sent us so many videos editing took much longer than expected but here is the finished video! We uploaded it on YouTube, it might even turn up on television.
So, a big thank you to everybody who took part in it – you’re pop stars now!
This summer we finally found the time to shoot a “real” music video for our first single “Madelaine”. The images in the video refer to the single cover which itself was inspired by a line in the original lyrics by Paul Roland.
Due to time constraints, weather conditions and a rather uncooperative horse we had to improvise a lot during the shoot and couldn´t stick to the script, thus the story in the video is only loosely connected to the story told in the lyrics. We still think that the video’s atmosphere complements the song’s one quite well.
The video can be found on Youtube (see below) and in the upcoming video section of our homepage. Who knows, it may even turn up on televison.
This week should also see the last shooting day for the video to our recent single “Life According to a Pop Star”. This video containing clips of fan participation will be released in a few weeks.
